Statement Now

Terms and Conditions

Last updated: July 2026

1. About Statement Now

Statement Now is a fixed-price, standardised online service designed to help homeowners prepare a heritage statement for a straightforward listed building consent case.

Statement Now operates as Statement Now by Recept Heritage. It is a guided, self-service product and is not a bespoke heritage consultancy service; bespoke, consultant-led heritage advice is available separately from Recept Heritage.

2. Who the service is for

The service is intended for homeowners seeking to prepare a heritage statement for works to their own listed home.

The service is designed for straightforward cases only.

The service is not intended for complex, contentious, unclear, high-risk or unusual cases, commercial schemes, appeal work, or matters requiring substantial bespoke professional judgement.

3. What the service includes

If a case is accepted, Statement Now provides a guided online process to collect the information needed for a structured heritage statement.

The service includes a fixed-price builder workflow, structured questions, evidence upload, and generation of a standardised heritage statement output based on the information provided.

The service may also include limited support with using the app itself.

4. What the service does not include

Statement Now does not provide bespoke heritage consultancy, general planning advice, legal advice, architectural advice, or representation in relation to disputes, appeals, or enforcement matters.

The service does not guarantee that an application will be validated, approved, or supported by a local planning authority, conservation officer, or any other third party.

The service does not include site visits, measured surveys, design work, negotiations with the local authority, or case-specific professional strategy unless expressly agreed outside the Statement Now service.

5. Quick Fit and acceptance

Before payment, Statement Now carries out a Quick Fit check to decide whether the case appears suitable for this standardised service.

If a case is clearly unsuitable before payment, it may be declined before payment is taken.

A Quick Fit pass means only that the case appears suitable for the service based on the information available at that stage.

6. Your responsibility for information

You are responsible for making sure the information, documents, and answers you provide are accurate, complete, and honestly given to the best of your knowledge.

You are responsible for uploading the documents and supporting material requested by the service.

Statement Now may rely on the information you provide when generating the heritage statement.

7. Evidence and missing information

Some cases may require specific documents, photographs, plans, or other supporting information before a heritage statement can be completed.

If required information is missing, the case may be placed on hold while further information is requested.

If the necessary information is not provided within a reasonable time, or if the fuller information shows that the case is not suitable for the service, the case may be declined after payment.

8. Suitability after payment

In some cases, a matter that appeared suitable at Quick Fit stage may later prove to be unsuitable once further information is received.

If this happens, Statement Now may place the case on hold, decline to continue through the standardised workflow, or offer a refund where appropriate.

Statement Now is not required to continue with a case that falls outside the service boundary.

9. Turnaround and delivery

Any turnaround times stated by Statement Now are indicative only and depend on the timely provision of the required information by you.

Delays may occur if information is missing, unclear, inconsistent, or requires further checking.

The service is complete when the heritage statement output has been made available through the platform or otherwise provided to you.

10. Payment

Payment is taken on a fixed-price basis for access to the Statement Now service for a case that appears suitable at the pre-payment stage.

Payment does not convert the service into a bespoke advice service or create any entitlement to consultancy services outside the defined scope of Statement Now.

11. Refunds

Refunds will be considered in line with the circumstances of the case, including whether the case was unsuitable for the service, whether work has already been carried out, and whether the required information was provided.

If a case is declined after payment because it falls outside the service boundary, Statement Now may offer a full or partial refund as appropriate.

No refund is due simply because you decide not to continue, fail to provide required information, or choose not to use the completed output.

12. Use of the output

The heritage statement produced through Statement Now is prepared for your use in connection with your proposed application and related submission materials.

You remain responsible for reviewing the output and deciding whether it is appropriate for your application before submission.

If you are unsure whether the output is suitable for your purposes, you should seek independent professional advice.

13. Limitation of service

Statement Now provides a standardised product based on a defined workflow and standard rules. It does not undertake an open-ended review of all heritage, planning, design, title, legal, or procedural issues that may affect your project.

The service is limited to the scope described in these Terms and Conditions and any linked service description shown in the app.

14. Liability

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

Subject to that, Statement Now’s liability shall be limited to the amount paid by you for the service.

Statement Now shall not be liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from inaccurate information provided by you, third-party decisions, or matters outside the stated service scope.

15. Support

Support is limited to questions about accessing or using the Statement Now app and process.

Support does not include general heritage, planning, validation, or strategy advice about your case.

16. Changes to the service

Statement Now may update the app, workflow, wording, or supporting content from time to time in order to improve the service or reflect changes to the product.

Any such changes will not materially reduce the service already purchased for an accepted case without good reason.

17. Privacy and data

Statement Now will need to collect and use personal data and case information in order to operate the service.

Use of personal data should be governed by the Statement Now Privacy Notice.

18. Governing law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Any dispute arising in connection with these Terms and Conditions shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
